Enterprise ID

An Enterprise ID is a unique identifier assigned to an organization when it registers with Google’s Android Management API. The Enterprise ID serves as the primary link between an organization’s MDM platform and Google’s device management infrastructure.

Enterprise ID Purpose

The Enterprise ID identifies the organization to Google. All Android devices managed by that organization’s MDM must be associated with the same Enterprise ID. The Enterprise ID is essential for accessing Android Enterprise features and the Android Management API.

Obtaining Enterprise ID

Organizations obtain an Enterprise ID by registering a Google Workspace account and setting up Android Enterprise. This typically requires a Google Workspace administrator account. The registration process is usually automated through the MDM platform.

Enterprise ID in API Calls

The Enterprise ID is used in REST API calls to the Android Management API. When the MDM needs to enroll a device, create policies, or manage devices, it includes the Enterprise ID in the API request to identify which organization the request is for.

Organization Structure

The Enterprise ID can have multiple users with different administrative roles and permissions. Organizations can delegate specific management tasks to different administrators while maintaining the single Enterprise ID relationship with Google.

Multiple Enterprise IDs

Large organizations with multiple business units might have multiple Enterprise IDs. Each Enterprise ID represents a separate management domain. However, most organizations use a single Enterprise ID for centralized management.

Enterprise ID Security

The Enterprise ID and related credentials must be protected carefully. Access to the Enterprise ID should be restricted to authorized administrators. Loss of Enterprise ID credentials could allow unauthorized management of the organization’s devices.
